International Researchers Visit Karoo Origins – The Fossil Centre

Karoo Origins – The Fossil Centre recently had the pleasure of welcoming a group of visiting researchers who are currently furthering their work in the field of palaeontology.

The group included students of Professor Justin Benoit from Wits University, Joseph Chase from the University of Rennes in France, and Jeremy Petex from the prestigious École Normale Supérieure de Lyon.

Their visit to the Fossil Centre formed part of a broader research expedition across the Karoo, which saw them exploring several important fossil localities, including Ganora in Nieu Bethesda, Doornplaats, and Murraysburg. These sites are renowned for their rich fossil beds and continue to provide valuable insights into the prehistoric life of the region.

It was a privilege to host such passionate and knowledgeable individuals and to play a small part in their ongoing efforts to uncover the secrets of the Karoo’s ancient past.
